2007 IALN Scholarship Awards
In 2007, the Idaho Alliance of Leaders in Nursing Hospital Allocated Funds (HAF) nursing scholarships were awarded. A total of $64,400 in scholarships was awarded for the 2007-2008 school year.
To address the nursing faculty shortage, IALN targeted the scholarship funds to nursing students committed to teaching in Idaho. $6,000 scholarships were given to three students enrolled in PhD nursing programs. Twelve students enrolled in Masters programs and committed to teaching were awarded at total of $30,400 and eight students enrolled in Undergraduate nursing programs who work in Critical Access Hospitals were awarded $2,000 each for a total of $16,000.
The Scholarship Committee was chaired by Carol Ashton, PhD, and the committee had a difficult task due to the large number of qualified applicants and we thank the scholarship committee for their hard work. The IALN congratulates the scholarship recipients and wish the best of luck to nurses and nursing students across the state as they advance their education! The Idaho Alliance of Leaders would like to thank the IHA and the contributors to the Hospital Allocated funds for their support.
2007 Hospital Allocated Funds (HAF) Grants Awarded
The 2007 IALN Hospital Allocated Funds (HAF) grants were awarded. In an agreement brokered by the Idaho Hospital Association and the Department of Health and Welfare, Hospital Allocated Funds (HAF) are available through the Idaho Hospital Association to be distributed to Idaho hospitals for the “recruitment, retention, promotion, and education” of Idaho nurses. The IALN has been charged with administering the grant process and assuring the projects are of high quality with measurable outcomes.
Grants were given in four categories:
Category A - Grants aimed at the professional development of the bedside nurse (certifications, specialty training)
Category B - Grants aimed at mentoring new staff, developing Graduate Nurse Fellowships, increasing the skills and knowledge of preceptors. Grants in this category should be based upon successful, evidence based models or other local or regional programs of proven success
Category C - Grants awarded to facilities that form Idaho regional partnerships to develop and implement best practices
Category D - Grants aimed at promoting the image and practice of nursing among young people who are potential future nurses.
